l'Hydroptère maxi

In pursuit of Jules Verne…

l’Hydroptère.ch with a view to l’Hydroptère maxi, these are the two latest challenges launched by Alain Thébault and the Hydroptère team to extend the technological and geographical limits of the project.

Three boats to attempt each of the major ocean going records: Absolute speed, Atlantic, Pacific and round-the-world navigation.

The objective of l’Hydroptère maxi is to pursue the dream of Jules Verne.
l’Hydroptère maxi will benefit from the experience and expertise acquired over many years of trials and adjustments. The existing l’Hydroptère is a real-life trial platform that aims to understand perfectly the functioning of hydrofoils.
Today, l’Hydroptère is extremely reliable and highly efficient, consequently the team is now ready to build l’Hydroptère.ch with the design of a third boat in view.
l’Hydroptère.ch, a model lab boat, will be used essentially to test configurations and behaviours for the eventual design of l’Hydroptère maxi.
The geometry fixed upon for l’Hydroptère.ch should enable the boat to sail in very varied conditions as well as allowing systems and technologies that can be transferred to l’Hydroptère maxi to be tested.

This maxi trimaran will measure approximately 30 meters in length and 32 meters in span.

This size should enable her to react better in heavy seas. l'Hydroptère maxi 's versatility will be fundamental.

The speeds expected for this maxi are very high and she should be able to sail round the world and beat the existing record (50 days), aiming to close in on the ultimate dream of 40 days.
